The marriage between a man and a woman is provided for under the Gibraltar Marriage Act. Under its provisions it is possible, by means of a Special License granted under Section 13 of the Act, for residents and non-residents alike to marry in Gibraltar without the need of having to reside in Gibraltar for any length of time, although for administrative purposes a minimum notice of one working day is required. It also enables civil ceremonies to be conducted at approved locations outside the Registry outside working hours and at weekends. In order to get married at the Gibraltar Marriage Registry or by means of a Special Licence, you must be able to satisfy the Registrar that you are free to marry by completing affidavits and signing them before a Commissioner for Oaths or a Notary Public of your choice in Gibraltar. We have a fair priced Commissioner for Oaths just off Main Street, who we recommend, which we can include in our quotation.
If you require a Church Wedding for solemnity and traditional formality, Gibraltar has a number of Churches of different denominations, where you do not need to be a practising Christian or Catholic or member of the Church. Providing you have respect for the traditions and a degree of religious belief, your acceptance is subject to prior approval with the respective church. We will strive to get all the necessary permissions for you, as long as you communicate your requests to us in good time. Generally 3 months prior notice is required by the churches. Divorced couples are normally accepted. The most popular Anglican Wedding Venue is The Cathedral Church of the Holy Trinity, just off of Main Street. St Andrew’s Church wedding service is also popular, where they use vows exchanged similar to that of other mainstream churches. Roman Catholicism is the main religion in Gibraltar and there are a number of Catholic Churches available. By far the most popular is the centrally located Cathedral of St Mary. Other Catholic Churches available are St Bernard’s Church, Sacred Heart Parish Church, St Joseph’s Parish Church, St Theresa Parish Church and St Paul’s Parish Church. Methodist Weddings are at Gibraltar Methodist Church. The Presbyterian Church available is St Andrews Church of Scotland.

We will need to book the temple on your behalf in good time, as it is used for many religious celebrations throughout the year. Their Constitution states that they provide a venue, facilities and the necessary assistance for divine worship and the performance of, and/or accommodating, Hindu religious services, Hindu spiritual or religious studies and discourses, Hindu weddings and any other Hindu ceremonies or functions so as to allow Hindus to practise and further their religious faith and culture in Gibraltar (which shall include but not be limited to the Sindhi language, Sindhi traditions and culture and, the Sindhi heritage). The premises are a Holy place of worship and accordingly appropriate conduct and attire is expected from all present.
